Adorable, furry cats & a cozy café – what a great combination! Cat cafes have been popular in other parts of the world for a while. Now you can find several of them in “the Big Apple” also known as New York City.
Whether you simply want to be surrounded by cuddly cats for an hour or two, or you are actively seeking a new fur-ever friend, visiting one of these cafes is a paw-esome way to spend your afternoon.
Do keep in mind that cat cafes are becoming more & more popular (which is no surprise to us!). Most of them recommend that you make reservations. Before you visit, do also take a look at their FAQs or “info” page so you know everything about that specific café.

The Meow Parlour has a nonprofit division called Meow Parlour Cats, Inc. from which you can adopt felines. They are a cat adoption group. The website features a special section, called Meet the Cats where you can now see about 17 beautiful cats that are now seeking their fur-ever homes.
The Brooklyn Cat Cafe is unique, they are the only not-for-profit cat cafe that you can find in New York City. This cafe is run by the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, which is an all-volunteer animal rescue group.
The Brooklyn Cat Cafe is both a social space and a cat adoption center. We love too that they have a Kitten Cam! Actually, they have several “cams” But here is the Kitten Cam (be sure to see their other “cams!”)
They have a special page of the website which lists the cats that are now available for adoption. There is a section of the site that shares information about how to foster cats and also adoption application information.
The word “koneko” means “kitten!” Here at the Koneko cafe, you can order from a Japanese themed menu that includes alcohol, such as beer and sake.
But let’s talk about what’s most exciting: the cats! Koneko has 20 cats you can pat, cuddle and also ADOPT! The sweet felines come from Anjellicle Cats Rescue.
